- this can't possibly be the end of summer -

say it ain't so.  back to school already?
Does this mean that the Winter will be upon us?
I suppose the fact that it's 94 degrees out at the moment means I'm jumping the gun a bit with this fear of winter looming, but it really is.
School has been back in for 4 days now and I'm having some real transitions issues.
For starters it's so quiet around here.  You'd think I'd be in heaven as well as getting a lot done.
Not so much.
'sweet' things continue to be made in the busy sewing studio

and it'll be nice to have the young energy of interns back in action

but I will miss summer. a lot.

I guess it's time to think about fleece and wool instead of linen and seersucker for a while.
Must. Embrace.

16 July 2010

today is a good day.
enjoy it and the people you're with.
send a whole bunch of love to the people you're not with.

and smile, crabcakes loves you

10 July 2010

we sported our red, white and blue for the big day.
Captain America is hiding out behind us, all you can see of the little guy are his skull shoes and not his festive tee I spent hours on (well, really just minutes, but c'mon).
The polka-dot-girl has been wearing that dress since her very 1st 4th of july and each year it receives an addition/alteration in order to grow with her. This year the addition was made to the back side.
Oh, and here's my little Captain.

bling blang blung

The last several weeks have been busy and I've been struggling to find the time to work, play and explore tons of new ideas and inspirations.
So in an effort to share what's going on and continue to maximize on the time needed to work, play and explore, I'm going to post a bunch of photos and that's it! Enjoy!!

the jack johnson revival

I've got a camera-load of pics that I've been eager to share.
New designs, new ideas springing up left and right.
But somehow I can't seem to get off my tooshie right now to grab my camera to download the photos.
Ah well, good things come to those....
but til then here's a pic of an old favorite.  Have I posted it before?
It's the Jack Johnson shirt, or onesie in this case.  A rockin' little number if I do say so myself.
And since I feel Spring has finally Sprung what better way to welcome it officially than with a festive little birdie.
Happy Spring.

a Whale of an Idea!

- RICECAKE -
oh my gawd, I love it!
Thanks Mary, you're brilliant!
So our little friends now have a name,
they're Ricecakes.
Stay tuned for Mini-Ricecakes.
They're coming soon.
And Mary, an extra Ricecake is comin' your way!

12 April 2010

got a name for this?

I'll send you one if you can come up with the perfect name.
I used to make these a long time ago, they were in the shape of fish.
I called them 'warmies' - now they need a good name.

They're filled with rice.  When you heat them in the microwave they act as a natural heating pad.
You'll be amazed how long they stay warm.

They're great for crummy tummy, cold days in the car seat, mommy's back pain...
endless uses.
We're working on all sorts of cute patterns and when my camera batteries are charged I'll photo some more to share.

The Boy is Ready

He's certainly ready for Easter and with a pair of lightweight plaid seersucker pants he'll be ready for anything that comes up during spring and summer.
The Girl will be ready very soon.
She'd better be, Easter is tomorrow!

25 March 2010

promises promises

Didn't I say something about posting the new pillows a while ago?
Well, here they are.

It feels like a nice new major purchase or a giant new home furnishing item, but it was only 20 bucks in fabric and a few hours to cover what were super ugly pillows.  Ahhh!

17 March 2010

cinch it.

I've been a bit distracted the last day (or so) with some fun side-'jobs'.  If I call them Jobs then I'm still working, right?  Right.  So, that being said I've been working hard and having fun. The belts are just a must, they hold up the pant but look Oh So Cute doing it.

The girls (the interns I mean) and I had a great 'craft day' last week and we'd still be crafting if we didn't have to get on with some of life's other responsibilities, it was a lot of fun.  Above is our mess and some of the the results.  Hopefully before too long I will get some pics up of all the new pillows I made for my living room. Ahhhh, sigh, smile.
-thanks for checking in-
Have a Great Day!

Happy Birthday

It's the best day of the year and the joy of a birthday lasts all year long!
(at least when you're six it's still joyful)
I'll make one for you with a grenade on top if you want.
